In February 2021, refusing to let the Covid pandemic prevent us from supporting young career-builders, we held our first Virtual Jobs Fair.
Delivered in support of the KickStart scheme, the event was delivered virtually, rather than in a physical venue, which would have created unnecessary infection risks. However, the change of format certainly didn’t reduce its impact. It attracted around 50 participants who heard presentations from various employers, some of whom also gave virtual tours of their premises.
The session helped the young people to gain a clear sense of the skills and qualities that local employers most value, and how they could plan out their next steps into employment.
Our KickStart lead, Tayyibah Masood was delighted by the attendance and by the quality of discussions that took place, saying: “What a fantastic turnout and what an eventful workshop we had this afternoon! Thank you to all those who attended, and to the employers who did their virtual tours.
“I think the session was really enjoyable and clearly demonstrated how the KickStart scheme can help people at this vital early stage in their working lives.”
