Twelve mandatory modules, each applied directly in your care setting. The programme moves from the learner's own role, personal development and duty of care, through person centred care, communication and safeguarding, to health and safety, infection control, mental health, dementia, learning disability and autism.
- Off the job training
A minimum of six hours a week, with progress reviews every 8 to 12 weeks.
- Assessment
Assessment runs throughout the programme, with evidence gathered in the workplace and reviewed against the qualification standards. Awarded by VTCT Skills.

Who is it for?
New recruits and existing staff in adult social care settings. Learners undergo checks in line with safer recruitment requirements.

Deliver person centred care built around each person's needs, wishes and preferences. Apply safeguarding, duty of care, privacy and dignity every day. Keep people safe and well through health and safety, basic life support and infection prevention and control. Support good nutrition and hydration. Build awareness of mental health, dementia, learning disability and autism. Work as one team with colleagues, families and other professionals.
Roles and progression
Prepares your learner for care assistant and support worker roles across adult social care. Typical progression is Level 3 Adult Social Care and senior care roles.
